“Where discipline becomes destiny” – Empowering Indigenous youth through world-class sports education
The sporting legacy at KIIT & KISS was born from the vision of our founder, Prof. Achyuta Samanta. Inspired by global university models where sports play a central role in holistic development, he envisioned an institution where Indigenous children could access the same world-class training, facilities, and mentorship.
His belief that sports build not just strong bodies, but resilient, disciplined minds, has guided the creation of one of India’s largest grassroots sports ecosystems.
World-Class Facilities
KIIT and KISS are sister institutions under the KIIT Group of Institutions. While KISS is a fully residential school and university for Indigenous students, and KIIT is a world-class multidisciplinary university, both institutions share a unified vision of holistic development including in sports.
Many sports facilities, programmes, and coaching resources are jointly developed and accessed by students from both campuses.
High-performing athletes have emerged from interconnected talent pipelines and collaborative coaching frameworks.
Our focus remains on the collective mission of empowering youth through sports, regardless of institutional labels.

A landmark in KISS’s sporting journey, the 2022 international feature film tells the incredible true story of 12 tribal boys from KISS who went from learning rugby for the first time… to winning the Under-14 Rugby World Cup in the UK.
Directed by Sagar Ballary and starring Abhay Deol, Jungle Cry is more than a sports drama; it’s a powerful testament to how sport can change lives and how institutions like KISS are breaking barriers for India’s Indigenous youth.

A growing legacy of sports excellence, social impact, and global partnerships
With support from JICA, KISS welcomed international volunteers to strengthen rugby training. This unique partnership underscores our commitment to excellence in lesser-supported sports like rugby.
As part of a Guinness World Record attempt, 5,000 children played volleyball across 60 courts simultaneously, during the KISS Volleyball Foundation Festival. The event saw over 40,000 students participating, showcasing the scale of grassroots sports promotion at KISS.
At KISS, we believe that meaningful partnerships create the strongest platforms for change. We’ve built powerful alliances with leading national and international sports organizations
These collaborations help us elevate the training, visibility, and success of our student-athletes – often from the remotest corners of the country – to the global stage.
KISS welcomes individuals, corporates, and institutions who wish to invest in sporting futures. Join us in creating opportunities for Indigenous talent to shine on the global stage.
